SKIN & IMMUNE Disorder

Overview -Skin & Immune Disorder

Skin disorder often arise from allergic reactions to various substances, triggering the release of histamines completely into the bloodstream. These reactions, initiated by the immune system to defend against external threats, can also result in swelling, itchiness, and other symptoms associated with skin disorders.Common allergens like pollen, medications, insect bites, and irritants.
🌿Eczema: Eczema, or atopic dermatitis, presents as red, itchy, and sometimes scaly patches on the skin. It worsens due to allergens, irritants, or stress, and is associated with an overactive immune system, leading to an imbalance in immune responses.
🌿 Psoriasis: Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease characterised by rapid skin cell growth, resulting in thick, scaly patches. It stems from an immune system malfunction, causing overproduction of skin cells and the formation of red, silver-scaled patches.
🌿Allergies: Allergic reactions can manifest on the skin as hives, rashes, or irritation due to the immune system’s hypersensitivity to harmless substances like pollen, animal dander, or certain foods.
🌿Autoimmune Disorders:
Autoimmune disorders such as lupus, scleroderma, and dermatomyositis can affect the skin by causing inflammation and other symptoms. In these conditions, the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the skin and other body parts.
Causes of Skin Disorder:
Skin disorder are often triggered by allergic reactions to various allergens such as medications, insect bites, pet dander, pollen, and dust mites. They can be acute or chronic, lasting beyond six weeks, and may indicate underlying health issues.
🌿Temperature-Induced Skin Disorder: It can also be provoked by temperature changes, including cold-induced disorders triggered by exposure to cold water or air, exercise-induced disorders, and solar disorders from sunlight or tanning beds.
🌿Infection-Induced Skin Disorder: Viral or bacterial infections can cause skin disorders, often accompanied by other symptoms of infection such as urinary tract infections or strep throat.
Ayurvedic Perspective: Ayurveda categorises skin conditions under Kushta Roga (skin diseases) and provides specific explanations for allergic conditions like Sheetpitta, Udard, and Kotha. These are further subdivided based on their characteristics and underlying causes.
Ayurvedic Treatment: Ayurvedic treatment for skin disorder focuses on reducing imbalances in Pitta and Kapha doshas, purifying the blood, improving immunity, and eliminating toxins. Panchakarma also includes detox therapies, is recommended to cleanse and rejuvenate the body.
